Mexican Judge Accused of Taking $2 Million Bribe to Free Ryan Wedding Associate

Mexican district judge Luis Benitez Alcantara was arrested in Colombia following a U.S. federal indictment alleging he accepted a $2-million bribe to grant bail to Andrew Clark, the alleged second-in-command to former Olympic snowboarder turned drug kingpin Ryan Wedding. The bribe secured Clark's temporary release from Mexican custody during extradition proceedings in February 2025, though Clark was rearrested days later and extradited to the U.S. Benitez Alcantara now faces U.S. extradition and up to 15 years in prison per count on a nine-count indictment.
